Lyngen North

A yearlong of outdoor activities

We have selected and developed some great outdoor activities suitable for all levels of experience and ability. From magical winter escapes like dog sledding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling ; to  summer getaways with our  onsite activities like kajakk-, SUP- and electric bike rental.

Guided Snowshoeing

Guided tour to our wilderness campsite in the outskirts of the forest. The 3 hours-long tour takes you over the open snowfields at Spåkenes. Along the way you might encounter arctic wildlife like elk (moose), rabbits, foxes and reindeer. At the campsite you can warm up inside the lavvu tent while being served a small lunch and warm drinks. Outside the tent there is a gentle slope where you can have fun racing down on a snow sled.

* Season: December - March (available earlier if there is enough snow)

* This tour is not strenuous and is suitable for everyone with normal physical capacity.

Dog sledding

Let the cold snow gently strike your face and feel the strength of well trained huskies, as they chart you around the scenic Reisa valley.

You will be driving your own sled of huskies through the beautiful winter wonderland at the gateway to the Reisa National Park. Transport to and from the dog sledding “camp” is included in the fare.

Snowmobile Tour

Through our partner we offer a snowmobile tour to the Sikkajavri lake. You will be transported by an experienced local guide to the top of the mountain where a warm lavvu tent will be waiting for you. Inside the typical tent, warm soup and hot beverages will be served.

If you dare, you will get the chance to drive the snowmobiles by yourself, once you are up by the frozen lake.

Ski Touring

The closest mountain accessible from Lyngen North is Storhaugen. The tour starts from the cemetery in Djupvik, a 3-minute drive from Lyngen North. Due to its easy access and stunning views towards the Lyngen Alps, Storhaugen is one of the top summits for backcountry skiing in the Lyngen Alps Region.

* Season: mid-March - May

* High risk activity

* Local guide or mountain guide recommended

* High level of physical fitness recommended

Whale Safari

A safe, steady open boat, commanded by an experienced crew will sail you between wonderful fjord scenery, right to the best places to give you a chance to hopefully see the amazing whales in their natural habitat.

The price includes transport from Lyngen North to Skjervøy and back.The boat can have maximum 12 passengers on board.

* This activity must be booked directly with our partner Best Arctic. By using the "Book Now" above you will be sure to also have reserved transport from and back to Lyngen North after the tour.

* Season November - January (or when/if the whales appear)

Summer Activities

During summer you have the options of multiple DIY activities like electric bike rental, kajakking, stand up paddleboarding and hiking.

Fishing boat rental

Rent a fishing boat from our marina just below your Sea Cabin. The Lyngenfjord has a rich population of among others, cod, halibut, pollock and rosefish.

By the marina we have a shed where you can safely clean/cut your fish when you come to shore. The Sea Cabins has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, so you can prepare your own fresh catch of the day.

Lyngen North As is also a registered fishing camp. This means you are allowed to bring some fish with you when leaving the country.
