We offer a variety of quality accommodations in a unique and relaxing stress-free environment by the Lyngen Fjord in Northern Norway. The perfect location for viewing the northern lights, exploring the beautiful nature of the Lyngen Alps region, skiing, mountain hiking, fjord fishing and bird watching.

Lyngen North

Lyngen North is a family owned business with Torbjørn and Ola (Torbjørn’s son) working together to create a unique experience for our guests. Each season is different and has something unique to offer you quality houses and igloos are fully equipped for self-catering purposes and long term stays.

Location / How to get here
Lyngen North is located 2 kilometres off E6 on the “Spåkenesveien”. We are situated in the middle between Tromsø and Alta (3 hours drive in each direction).

By car from Tromsø
When driving from Tromsø you have the option of taking the ferries between Breivikeidet – Svensby and Lyngseidet – Olderdalen or driving on the E6 through Norkjosbotn.  Both options take about the same time to drive See bjorklid.no for ferry timetables.

By bus from Tromsø
There are buses leaving daily from/to Tromsø. You can use the travel planner on tromskortet.no to plan your travel. The closest bus stop to Spåkenes is “Djupvik (Gáivuotna Kåfjord)”.

By car from Alta
The drive takes around 2.5 – 3 hours. There are no ferry options from Alta.

From Skjervøy
Every day, all- year round, , the Hurtigruten docks at Skjervøy. The drive from Skjervøy to Lyngen North takes about 45 min. See hurtigruten.co.uk for time tables and prices.

Sørkjosen Airport
The closest airport is in Sørkjosen. You can get there by taking the Widerøe plane from Tromsø or Alta. The flight takes around 15 – 20 min and the drive from Sørkjosen to Lyngen North takes around 30 min. We can offer pickup at Sørkjosen Airport if booked in advanced.

Accommodation/ facilities
Our various accommodation options consist of two cabins (80 m²), one house (150 m²) and two glass igloos. They are fully equipped for self-catering purposes and long term stays.

The area is dimly populated, providing our guests with the opportunity to enjoy their holiday in complete peace and quiet.

Fishing season (May – October) 
The fishermen and women who come to Spåkenes can enjoys long days out in the Lyngen Fjord with midnight sun and a rich population of, among others, cod, pollock, halibut and wolf fish. The boats are kept moored in a small private marina that belongs to the camp. By the harbor is a fileterian house and by the shore is a gazebo that our guests may gather for barbecues etc.

Northern Lights season (September – April)
Our Glass Igloos will keep you warm and comfortable in your search for the northern lights.

Skiing season (March – May)
Groups from all ages and skill levels are welcome to enjoy the diverse choices of terrain the Lyngen Alps region has to offer.
